The Mind of a Child

I shall be a child.

I shall rush through things.

I shall be foolish about things.

—Until I do not know myself.

Until my story ends in death,

I shall live a lifetime in a day.

I shall not love much.

—But I will love with all my heart.

I shall not search for certainty.

—For nobody does.

I shall not speak much.

—But I will speak with all my might.

I shall find no purpose in the end.

—One thing I shall know—

Asleep in my bed, I know that,

I'll be gone by 7:45.
